Solas was appointed to design and deliver a complete LED lighting upgrade for Oaklands Farm Eggs at their Ruabon production site. The project aimed to improve lighting performance, reduce energy use, and support the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
The Client & Challenge
Oaklands Farm Eggs is a family-run business with a strong focus on animal welfare, product quality, and environmental stewardship. The company has invested heavily in sustainable operations, including rainwater harvesting, Eco5 transport, and highly insulated housing facilities.
Upon acquiring the Ruabon site, Oaklands inherited an outdated lighting system that was inefficient, difficult to service, and inconsistent with their strict carbon and energy policies. The lighting caused maintenance interruptions and failed to provide the brightness and reliability required in a modern production environment.
The Solas Solution
Solas carried out a full lighting audit to assess performance, maintenance demands, and energy consumption across the site. The findings informed a new LED design that provided efficient, uniform illumination while reducing maintenance complexity and energy costs.roduced for every site, ensuring that each space, from classrooms to circulation areas, was fitted with the most suitable and efficient luminaires.
Lighting Design
A new high-level LED luminaire system was installed to improve light quality and reliability throughout the facility. The fittings were selected for their performance, energy efficiency, and ease of maintenance.

The works were completed with minimal disruption to operations, in a clean, safe, and well-organised manner.

The new solution delivers consistent, increased illumination, reduces downtime, and provides measurable reductions in both energy use and carbon emissions. Power sources are also now easier to monitor, further improving site efficiency.
